A new FICTION NOVEL for EVERYONE – written for your entertainment & to raise nuclear awareness. Now that the Fukushima nuclear disaster has happened, we know how dangerous these nuclear plants can be.
THE NUCLEAR CATASTROPHE is set in Southern California and deals with characters caught in a disaster that they thought could NEVER happen. Ben, head of Whitewater Nuclear Power Plant & his pregnant wife Sara live in San Mirado, near the ocean. One fateful day the unexpected happens…..Ben and Sara, the plant workers, the people living in San Mirado and those in adjacent cities all have to make decisions as to what to do, where to go. Their choices have both good and bad consequences.
This fictional story brings home the reality of what would or could happen. History has shown us time after time that……what can go wrong….will go wrong. What would YOU do? Your answers may be different after reading this novel. Read how these characters faced difficult choices – and decide what you would have done – or will do.
This book is available at Amazon.com as an ebook (Kindle version) or in paperback. Kindle books can be downloaded to The Kindle or to a PC or Tablet, Notebook, or Smartphone. Visit Amazon.com to download a free Kindle app that allows this book to be read on a PC, Tablet, Notebook, or Smartphone.
This fiction novel is meant to entertain and to educate. Very little has been written on this subject that is not a deep non-fiction book. Yet, there are 442 nuclear power plants operating or under construction in the world as of January 2011. The United States has 104. Whether it is a terrorist dirty bomb or a nuclear melt down – we should know what is happening and be prepared. I hope you will take the time to read this.
What some of the readers have said:
“I enjoyed this book because it could happen. I think anyone living in a state with a nuclear reactor exists should read this.”
“A frightening tale of survival. You never really think about the events that take place after you have been stripped of normal day to day resources. No police, hospitals, you are your own 911 and now have to protect yourself against the world.”
“A worthy read! This is a book whose vivid, thought-provoking images have stayed with me even months after reading it! It helped me to better understand the potential repercussions of a nuclear disaster.”

Two men… One face…
One seeks to embrace destiny, and the other to escape it.
Danyael Sabre spent sixteen years clawing out of the ruins of his childhood and finally has everything he wanted—a career, a home, and a trusted friend. To hold on to them, he keeps his head down and plays by the rules. An alpha empath, he is powerful in a world transformed by the Genetic Revolution, yet his experience has taught him to avoid attention.
When the perfect human being, Galahad, escapes from Pioneer Laboratories, the illusory peace between humans and their derivatives—the in vitros, clones, and mutants—collapses into social upheaval. The abominations, deformed and distorted mirrors of humanity, created unintentionally in Pioneer Lab’s search for perfection, descend upon Washington D.C. The first era of the Genetic Revolution was peaceful. The second is headed for open war.
Although the genetic future of the human race pivots on Galahad, Danyael does not feel compelled to get involved and risk his cover of anonymity, until he finds out that the perfect human being looks just like him.
What readers are saying about PERFECTION UNLEASHED:
“Ms. Kerrion has done something pretty great- she’s created a really interesting story. It’s not something you’ve read a thousands times before with different names and locations attached. It is truly a thing in and of itself, and for that I was surprised and delighted.”—Cristobal, Amazon reviewer
“‘Perfection Unleashed’ is a highly-enjoyable, brainy guilty pleasure of a novel: a perfect mixture of non-stop action, gripping plot, thought-provoking philosophy, and beautiful visuals…a feast for the eyes.”—A.L., Amazon reviewer
“The story was gripping right to the end, and the characters well imagined to keep us wanting to read more about them. The writing style of this book reminded me a lot of the excellent Idlewild Trilogy by Nick Sagan – and that should be enough to warrant you buying this, to be honest.”—Simon, Vine Voice Amazon UK reviewer
“The best aspect of the book, though, is that it is engrossing. I kept reading anxiously wanting to find out what was going to happen. If a story can capture the reader like that, if it can invest the reader in it, then you can’t ask for much more than that.”—Jonathan B, Amazon reviewer
“The best part of this story had to be that it presented some very deep questions, presented in a clear fashion within the story. It opened up questions about our world even as it is now (despite the book being set 50 years in the future), our state of morals, our emotions, and even about our governments. I also loved the author’s imagination for the storyline, which was vivid and alive.”—Miranda Stork, author of supernatural fantasy novels
“Take some of the excitement you find in many graphic novels and flesh that out with some outstanding characterization and stellar action scenes and you’ve got this book.”—Dena Martin, Amazon reviewer
“If you enjoyed watching Alphas and Heroes, or you’re into comic books, then you will enjoy this…Strong characterization and well developed world building.“—Noor Jahangir, author of The Changeling King.
Kurt, the Kung Fu Fighting Cop
By J.C. Martin
This is Detective Inspector Kurt Lancer, the protagonist in my crime thriller, ORACLE.
Kurt is a half-English, half-Nigerian homicide detective in the London Metropolitan Police. I didn’t consciously set out to make him mixed race, but his ethnicity is a perfect reflection of the multicultural melting pot that is the East End of London, and I like to believe it lends Kurt an air of authenticity as a home grown cop who was brought up in the area.
At six foot two and built like a rugby prop forward, he is conscious that people may find his physique intimidating—something he uses to full effect when interrogating a suspect. However, it bothers him that strangers would judge him by his appearance.
Perhaps this is why the martial art he practices, Wing Chun Kung Fu, is a relatively ‘soft’ fighting style that exploits an opponent’s force and motion. Size and strength do not confer any advantages in Wing Chun, so when Kurt is training, he doesn’t feel singled out because of the way he looks.
Kurt is a widower and dad to daughter Meghan, who suffers from a progressive genetic disorder. His only other family is younger half-brother Reggie, who Kurt grew up protecting as they survived foster care together. He continues to worry for Reggie, a layabout and petty criminal who hangs around with members of a street gang.
In between a demanding job, a child that requires special care, and a wayward brother, Kurt has little time for anything else—especially with his latest case, which threatens to derail London’s much-anticipated hosting of the Olympic Games.
If you’re intrigued by Kurt’s story, I hope you’ll enjoy ORACLE!
For your chance to win an e-book copy of ORACLE, why not enter my giveaway at the bottom of this post? The contest is on for the duration of the Blogger Book Fair!
Good luck, and a big thank you for Barbara for having me on her lovely blog!
About the Author:
J.C. Martin is a butt-kicking bookworm: when she isn’t reading or writing, she teaches martial arts and self-defence to adults and children. A 2nd degree black belt in Wing Chun kung fu, she writes dark mysteries, psychological thrillers, and the occasional horror story.
Her short stories have won various prizes and have been published in several anthologies. Oracle is her first novel.
Born and raised in Malaysia, J.C. now lives in south London with her husband, son, and dog.
After two years apart, he returns to Pelican Bluffs and to the girl he never wanted to leave. Madison wants to give their love another chance, but Alex can’t fight fate.
He is what he is.
Ruined. Crazy like his mother. And Madison deserves so much more. When his secrets spill out into their small town, Alex has a choice to make. Hide away in the darkness forever, or let love in.
Emily Mah Tippetts writes romance as E.M. Tippetts and science fiction and fantasy as Emily Mah. She is a former attorney with degrees in philosophy, politics and economics from Oxford University and business law from UCLA. These days she lives in New Mexico – the place where she grew up – with her family.
Meg Mims is an award-winning author of western historical mysteries. Double Crossing won the 2012 Spur Award for Best First Novel and was named a finalist in the 2012 USA Book News Awards. Meg published the sequel, Double or Nothing, in March of 2013. She is also one-half of the writing team D.E. Ireland with a new cozy mystery series coming out from St. Martin’s Press in 2014.
What’s your favorite food and drink?
Truly, it’s cookies. I would trade anything for cookies and a mug of Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice tea or a Caribou Mint (dark chocolate, please!) Mochoa. Panera’s shortbread, to be precise, drizzled with chocolate, or the chocolate/vanilla cookie from the Mexican bakery in Silver Springs, MD. I don’t mean to be fussy, but hey. Priorities.
Tell us about your Double Series.
I wrote Double Crossing as a twist on True Grit and Murder on the Orient Express. I was ecstatic when it won the Western Writers of America Spur Award in 2012 for Best First Novel. I mean, really?? That’s equivalent to an Edgar for mystery, to a Rita for romance, to a Bram Stoker for horror! So the pressure was on to make Double or Nothing, the sequel, just as entertaining yet different and a wrap-up to the heroine/hero relationship between Lily Granville and Ace Diamond begun in Double Crossing. With the flavor of California mining and dynamite history thrown in, plus a sumptuous banquet based on an actual event in November of 1869 to honor the CPRR bigwigs. Oh yeah. Had to put all the food and decoration details woven in that scene.
What’s next for your career?
I’m teaming up with a writing partner as D.E. Ireland for a cozy mystery series featuring Eliza Doolittle and Professor Henry Higgins. We had a blast writing the first book, Wouldn’t It Be Deadly, which will debut next year from St. Martin’s Press. And we’re planning on having even more fun writing the second book in the series! My agent is shopping a Lighthouse Mystery series that I wrote as my thesis during my MA in the prestigious Writing Popular Fiction program at Seton Hill University. I also write contemporary Christmas romance novellas. I hope to put Santa Paws and Santa Claws out in print this coming November.
Double Crossing: A murder arranged as a suicide … a missing deed … and a bereft daughter whose sheltered world is shattered. August, 1869: Lily Granville is stunned by her father’s murder. Only one other person knows about a valuable California gold mine deed — both are now missing. Lily heads west on the newly opened transcontinental railroad, determined to track the killer. She soon realizes she is no longer the hunter but the prey. As things progress from bad to worse, Lily is uncertain who to trust–the China-bound missionary who wants to marry her, or the wandering Texan who offers to protect her … for a price. Will Lily survive the journey and unexpected betrayal?
EXCERPT from Double Crossing…
Evanston, Illinois: 1869
I burst into the house. Keeping the flimsy telegram envelope, I dumped half a dozen packages into the maid’s waiting arms. “Where’s Father? I need to speak to him.”
“He’s in the library, Miss Lily. With Mr. Todaro.”
Oh, bother. I didn’t have time to deal with Emil Todaro, my father’s lawyer. He was the last person I wanted to see—but that couldn’t be helped. Thanking Etta, I raced down the hall. Father turned from his roll-top desk, spectacles perched on his thin nose and hands full of rustling papers. Todaro rose from an armchair with a courteous bow. His silver waistcoat buttons strained over his belly and his balding head shone in the sunlight. I forced myself to nod in his direction and then planted a quick kiss on Father’s leathery cheek. The familiar scents of pipe tobacco and bay rum soothed my nervous energy.
“I didn’t expect you back so early, Lily. What is it?”
With an uneasy glance at Todaro, I slipped him the envelope. “The telegraph messenger boy caught me on my way home.” My voice dropped. “It’s from Uncle Harrison.”
Father poked up his wire rims while he pored over the brief message. His shoulders slumped. “I’ll speak plainly, Lily, because Mr. Todaro and I were discussing this earlier. My brother sent word that George Hearst intends to claim the Early Bird mine in a Sacramento court. Harrison believes his business partner never filed the deed. He needs to prove our ownership.”
“Hearst holds an interest in the Comstock Lode, Colonel.” Todaro had perked up, his long knobby fingers forming a steeple. The lawyer resembled an amphibian, along with his deep croak of a voice. “His lawyers are just as ambitious and ruthless in court.”
Father peered over his spectacles. “Yes, but I have the original deed. I didn’t plan to visit California until next month, so we’ll have to move up our trip.”
“Oh!” I clasped my hands, a thrill racing through me. “I’m dying to visit all the shops out there, especially in San Francisco. When do we leave?”
“We? I meant myself and Mr. Todaro.”
I stared at the lawyer, who didn’t conceal a sly smirk. “You cannot leave me behind, Father. I promised to visit Uncle Harrison, and what if I decide to go to China?”
“Lily, I refuse to discuss the matter. This trip is anything but a lark.”
“It’s a grueling two thousand miles on the railroad, Miss Granville. Conditions out west are far too dangerous for a young lady,” Todaro said. “Even with an escort.”
“The new transcontinental line has been operating all summer. Plenty of women have traveled to California. I’ve read the newspaper reports.”
“I’m afraid the Union and Central Pacific cars are not as luxurious as the reports say. You have no idea. The way stations are abominable, for one thing.”
I flashed a smile at him. “I’m ready for adventure. That’s why I’ve considered joining the missionary team with Mr. Mason.”
Father scowled. “You are not leaving Evanston until I give my approval.”
“You mean until you dissuade me from ‘such a ridiculous notion.’”
“Need I remind you of the fourth commandment, Lily?”
“No, Father. We’ll discuss this later.”
My face flushed hot. Annoyed by being reprimanded in front of Todaro, I ignored the rest of the conversation. I’d always wanted to see the open prairie and perhaps a buffalo herd chased by Indians, the majestic Rocky Mountains and California. California, with its mining camps, lush green meadows and warm sunshine, the cities of Sacramento and San Francisco that had to be as exhilarating as downtown Chicago. I’d pored over the grainy pen-and-ink drawings in the Chicago Times. Uncle Harrison, who’d gone west several years ago to make a fortune and succeeded, for the most part, would welcome me with open arms. I plopped down on an armchair and fingered the ridges of the brass floor lamp beside me. Somehow I needed to persuade Father to allow me to tag along on this trip.

Kathryn Lively: How I Choose Books
Hello, my name is Kathryn Lively and I am living the dream –
I work for a bookstore and manage a social site for readers and authors. Every
day at AReCafe.com, I match books to
readers and offer authors a popular avenue for promotion. While we focus on
romance, we welcome authors of all genres whose books are available for sale at
our stores sites – AllRomance.com and OmniLit.com. Naturally, part of my job
involves keeping up with new books and top-selling authors. I still have to
pinch myself when I realize I have a job that requires me to read!
I do my best to average a hundred books read a year. I set a
goal this year of 125 and I’m halfway there. I need to get cracking so I don’t
fall short, and I’m never short on recommended books.
You may wonder how I choose the books that end up in my
digital reader. Okay, maybe you don’t, but if you’re an author looking for tips
on selling big it doesn’t hurt to hear from an avid reader. I don’t really have
a system per se, but when I go on the hunt there are a few things I look for:
Subject Matter – I
will pretty much read interesting, but there are certain subjects and tropes
that stay with me. I read entertainment non-fiction and memoirs, but I also
like contemporary romances set in small towns, cozy mysteries with amateur
sleuths, and the occasional high fantasy. If I’ve exhausted one author, I’ll
look for somebody similar.
Old Favorites – Everybody
has a few “auto-buy” authors – people you buy on the day of release, and if you
discover somebody new you may go back and stock up the backlist without
checking the book blurbs. I have alerts sent to me when a favorite author puts
out a new book, and sometimes I’ll check with friends at AReCafe or Goodreads
to discover authors who write the same genres.
A Simple Title – Never
underestimate the power of a short, concise title. I’ve grabbed books from
shelves just because the title looked interesting. Sometimes I came up with a
winner, other times not, but I find any time spent reading a book is not a
waste. Come up with a catchy title, and you’ll catch a reader.
If you’d like to learn more about buying and selling books
at All Romance or OmniLit, you’re welcome to visit both sites and see what’s
available. Check out AReCafe.com, too, for reviews of recent romances and guest
blogs by great authors.

Boxes For Beds – a historical mystery by Maryann Miller
Set in Arkansas in 1961, the story involves gangsters who controlled Hot Springs during that era, kidnappings, a corrupt sheriff, and Leslie Richards, a writer who left New York to get away from a disastrous relationship. She was hoping to find peace in a small town near Hot Springs, but ends up being a suspect. The following is an excerpt of a conversation between Leslie and her ten-year old daughter shortly after their move.
Leslie chuckled, then lounged on the bed, propping her head in her hand. “I was thinking out there … and I got to wondering. You haven’t really said much about whether you like it here or not.”
“Sure.” Mandy shrugged and pulled her feet up to sit facing her mother. “It’s not nearly as dull as I thought it would be.”
“I’m glad. Moving in the middle of the school year. And to some place so different… well, I was afraid—”
“Don’t worry, Mom. What is that you’re always calling me? A … dab … ”
“Yeah. That’s it. Us adappibles have to stick together.”
“It’s not too bad being away from your friends in New York?”
“Well, sure. I miss them,” Mandy broke eye contact for a moment, then she looked back with a smile. “But I’ve met new friends. There’s Betty. And that grandma lady, Emily. And there’s Matt,” Mandy’s smile turned into a mischievous grin. “He’s cute. Did you notice that?”
Leslie shook her head in mock indignation. “Oh, no! My daughter’s interested in boys already?.”
Mandy giggled for a moment before turning serious. “You know what? I just thought of it, but he looks a little like Ronald.”
Leslie swallowed hard. She didn’t know what to say to that. Mandy looked down and pulled at some loose threads on the quilt. “I’m sorry, Mom. I didn’t mean to—”
“That’s all right,” Leslie reached out and stilled Mandy’s fingers. “You can talk about Ronald if you want.”
“Do you miss him?”
“Of course.” Tears swam in Leslie’s eyes and she tried unsuccessfully to blink them back.
“He was almost as good as a daddy.”
The depth of pain beneath the words pierced Leslie, and she pulled Mandy close.
“Do you think he’ll stop being mad at us?”
“I don’t think he’s mad at us,” Leslie struggled with the rest of her response, knowing the fragile vulnerability in the child who had never known her real father. The struggle had been repeated often in recent years as Mandy had become more aware of the fact that her life was much different from most of her friends. Leslie knew her daughter needed truth, but not more truth than she was ready for, and certainly not something that would tarnish the memory of Ronald.

By Caitlyn Nicholas
Legendary hacker, Dimity Pond, is on the run from the law.
Her landlord’s sold her home, her money has disappeared along with her two-timing husband, a cyber-terrorist named Nemesis is forcing her to wreak havoc with a nasty virus and she’s developing a vile migraine.
Six years ago, Nemesis framed Dimity for the collapse of one of Europe’s biggest banks. The money was never found, and the bank’s failure caused untold damage to its customers. She’s been living under the radar ever since. The only way she can clear her name and live a normal life is to uncover Nemesis’s identity, but he’s always one step ahead.
Since Lord Richard Summerhayes left the Special Forces he’s built the best disaster-recovery network in the world, known as The Bunker. Banks, militaries, airports and other major systems around the world rely on him as the last unshakeable digital fortress in the face of disaster. Richard has been keeping an eye on his neighbor who has a dubious hacking past. He doesn’t like hackers, and when someone nukes his network with an intriguing new virus he knows exactly who to blame. But when he confronts her, he gets a whole lot more than he bargained for.
When Nemesis commits an unthinkable act of terrorism, the last hope is an encrypted file that only Dimity can crack. Will Nemesis manipulate Dimity into helping him wipe out the world’s biggest financial center? Or can Richard and Dimity take Nemesis down once and for all?
When Dimity and Richard first meet its not exactly love at first sight…
The purr of a powerful engine made her glance around. A luxurious car cautiously made its way into the yard, its fat tires creeping through the mud.
A pitchfork leaned against the side of the stables. Dimity grabbed it and stepped out in front of the car. It jerked to a halt, and its driver stared over the steering wheel, as if deciding whether he could run her over and get away with it. Then, with a slow shake of his head, he turned off the engine.
“You’re Dimity Pond,” he said with grim resignation as he got out of the car. He was taller than she’d imagined, lean and dressed entirely in black. His hair was dark brown, same as his eyes, and he had the pale skin of a cave-dweller. There were deep lines of strain around his eyes.
He took a step toward her, keeping a close watch on the pitchfork.
She tightened her grip.
“And you’re Richard Summerhayes.”
This couldn’t be about the virus – it was untraceable – so she glared at him, though he didn’t seem to notice. Instead he glanced down, frowning as his black boots sank into the mud. There was a controlled rigidity about him, as if every movement was planned. He wasn’t quite what she’d expected.
Caitlyn Nicholas began writing in 2005. Exhausted, pregnant and coping with a demanding toddler, she decided the time was right to embark on a writing career.
To her family’s eternal startlement she is now the author of five novels and a short story.
Her debut novel – and the first manuscript she had ever written – Running Scared, was published in 2007. This was followed by Secret Intentions in 2009, The Danger Game in 2012 and, Drive Me To Distraction, also in 2012. Her next novel, Pursuit, will be out in August 2013.

Ruby’s Fire on Goodreads:
I’m Lynda Kay Frazier and an avid reader of romantic suspense. I started writing about a year ago after a vivid dream. I know, sounds cliché, but that’s how it started. I work full time at a Cardiology clinic, then at night you will find me in front of my computer working on my next story.
“Rescued from the Dark“, is my first full length novel, and the first in my Guardians of Hope series. It will be an eight book series made up of Special Ops, Navy Seals and FBI Agents who are sanctioned by the government to do rescues they can’t or are not able to do due to restrictions.
This is a story about an FBI agent, Jason Michaels who goes undercover with the Irish Mob to get information on their gun smuggling ring. While on assignment he realizes they have joined forces with a known terrorist group manufacturing drugs. He searches for information to tie the two together when he finds out they have kidnapped a fellow agent and the only girl he has ever loved. Jason soon realizes their using Mercy to perfect their dosage and that his cover has been blown. He knows he has to save her so takes off a journey that will take him up against his enemies, peers and the Agency that he loves, but willing to give up to bring Mercy back to him.
She has no memory of their love…
Kidnapped by terrorists and sent into a drug-induced coma, FBI intern Mercedes Kingsley awakes with no memory of her ordeal—or the intimate interlude that left her pregnant. Convinced her child was fathered by her ex-fiancé, she walks away from the only man she has ever loved, determined to make things work with her ex, a man the FBI suspects is implicated in her abduction.
He knows the truth, but no one will listen…
FBI undercover agent Jason Michaels remembers what Mercy can’t and those memories are breaking his heart. Forced to keep his distance from his lover and their unborn child, Jason risks his life to protect Mercy from a cell of international terrorists who have vowed to get the secrets locked in her memory, no matter the cost. Can Jason convince Mercy to trust him until she remembers their past, or will he lose her to a man who will trap her in a nightmare world of darkness from which there is no escape?
An explosion ricocheted behind Jason Michael’s eyes as the pressure mounted in his head. The rush of panic consumed him. He struggled to move, tried to swallow, but nothing. His throat burned as the flames engulfed his lungs. He needed to breathe but couldn’t. Shit. He strained to make out the muffled voice, but the pounding in his ears erased all hope. His head started to spin and he succumbed to the realization, this was it, the end. He won. The flames dampened and his heartbeat slowed as the drums subsided, then the voice became clear.
“Give it to him now you son of a bitch. What were you thinking? We still need him.”
In a split second, Jason sucked in a breath, causing stabbing pains to shoot through his chest. Every muscle fiber burned as the cold blast of air shot through his lungs releasing the oxygen his body craved. He arched his back, raising his chest up to pull in more air when his head snapped to the side and the crack from his neck echoed in his ears. The pain ripped through his jaw, racing across his cheekbone. Before he could gather his senses, intense burning set his face on fire. What the hell?
The slap against his cheek stung, and his eyes snapped open. He wrenched upright, hitting his head on the roof of the SUV. His gaze darted back and forth looking for something familiar until he locked onto the ice-cold stare of the devil himself, Shaun Flanagan.
Damn, that was close. Jason could not blow his cover, even if it meant he would die as David Logan and not Jason Michaels.
“You’re finally awake, my boy. We almost lost you,” Shaun cold, emotionless laugh caused Jason’s blood to boil. “You stopped breathing, I think. It’s hard to tell with this new stuff. I hope you’re not too injured. We’ve got work to do.”
Jason’s vision blurred, but his other senses were sharp. Shaun had known exactly what the drug would do and the burn in Jason’s throat was a harsh reminder. Shaun’s sarcastic tone spoke volumes to him. He was evil and did not play by anyone’s rules but his own. Jason had spent the last two months undercover, playing their games and doing their dirty work to buddy up tight to this family. He’d earned his spot with Thomas Flanagan, but his son Shaun had issues trusting anyone, even his own father.
Jason’s anger burned inside of him, but he couldn’t afford to make mistakes, not now. He was too close. It’s time to step it up, but first the drugs had to stop. He rubbed his aching jaw with one hand, clenching his other into a fist to hide his visible shaking. He had to get control of this game before he lost everything.

Far more than a love story – this is a story about love.
5 Star Reviews…
- ‘Sub-Prime is not a fun tale, but it’s truth, and truth, even well stated, is stark, in-your-face, and eye opening’
- ‘Although the story is short, it is well-written, quite intense and very realistic’
- ‘Powerful condensed full-flavoured shot of reality’
